Does the GSI heat sink tech boil water faster?
When I'm camping I want my water to boil as fast as possible. It saves fuel and I am impatient. A moment not spent fishing is a moment wasted!
GSI recently came out with a heat sink base on their pots and kettles which, they claim, speeds cook time by up to 30%. Does it work?
I'm doing a side by side comparison of the Halulite 1L and 1.8L kettle. The smaller 1L kettle is older and doesn't have the heat sink on it. I filled both up equally. So which one boils first?
In the end the heat sink kettle did heat faster coming to a boil about 20sec sooner than the other kettle. It's not a perfect test. I think the heat sink is designed more for stoves like the pocket rocket or MSR dragonfly. There would likely have been a bigger difference if I was cooking at altitude, in the wind, and on a smaller camp stove.
